Are you interested in ecology, the environment or sustainable development? Would you like to do something to protect our environment?
This contest is made for you!!! The contest "Teach your parents" aims to encourage youth to defend our environment. The contest is called "Teach your parents " because we think that youth are the seeds of change that will grow to have a very significant influence in society.
So what exactly will you teach your parents??? To think ecologically!!!
Ecological consciousness is also in the small daily steps that are simple. Tiny, individual steps that are done each day such as sorting garbage, recycling, conscious energy use....can seem insignificant but together they can help save the planet for our children and the generations following them. A grain of sand is nothing when it is alone, but billions of grains of sand make a beach! Imagine billions of ecological initiatives put together daily. If we work together we can make a difference.
Did you know that each Quebecer produces about 700 kilo of waste each year! That’s enormous. All this waste is either buried or burned and that’s not good for the environment.
There are ways to reduce the quantity of waste that we produce. There are even people who aim for ‘zero waste’!
Not long ago we met Béa Johnson. She got her family to reduce their waste to about 1kg per year. She inspired us and we decided to make an effort to reduce our waste at home.
We encourage you to do the same. With a little creativity and a little imagination you can also make a difference on the environment. Each tiny gesture counts.
Talk about this with your parents and together find something that you can do at home! Talk to your friends, it’s cool to consider the environment.
